Another chunk of backlogging to come...

August 14, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70s and sun and some wind

Comments:
Took the SMART train to Santa Rosa for lunch today which was fun and then had ice cream at Lala'a mid afternoon with Peter and the girls. Before Carol's friend came over for drinks, I squeezed in a track workout for the first time in half a year. I jogged 50 seconds to the hs track, ran a steady mile trying to work out stiffness and the bloated feeling which comes form a big lunch and ice cream. The mile took 7:36 which every lap dripping from 8:00 pace to 7:15 pace. Then jogged half a lap with a handful of carioca (How do you spell this?) and started right in to 6x300 aiming for 6:00 minute pace and hoping to drop the pace. Finished with 1.75 laps of recovery and jogged 49 seconds back to home for a quick shower. 300s were: 67.9, 64.4, 64.3, 62.5, 59.8, 57.4
100 meter recoveries ranged from 37-40 seconds.
total time for the 12 laps was 21:39

I felt bloated and heavy the whole time, but I did loosen up despite not allowing myself a proper warm up and I was very much in control for the entire workout. I'm glad I did it. It was a good first workout. Can't say as it will help me for the Alumni Challenge, but if I do some speed at camp and run the alumni race hard, I could be getting some speed back by September. As soon as I stopped I felt a strange, sharp pain in the top of the left foot, but it was much improved by taking off my shoe. (I also spent a good amount of time getting most of the final burs and foxtails out of my shoes before the workout.
