Comments:
Calling this workout bullet because I was fast and I also found a literal bullet on the middle school track.
workout was 12x400 (4@5k pace, 4@ 3k pace, 4@ mile pace) 1 minute rest.
6x30m striders to start felt pretty relaxed and relatively quick. Can't emphasize how excited I am for shorts and spikes on these but for what it was they felt good.
Side note on the workout, I did this at Roxboro Middle school where the track is less than 400m. So I meant to do them in lane 5 where the 400 start is still pretty close to the common finish. Unfortunately, I'm a moron and accidentally used the 800 laned start for the first three reps which is a good 15 meters back from the 400 start. Anyway, those reps were fast as it is, but they were also long. This emphasizes my point that the first few reps of this workout were too quick.
Overview before the splits, I'm happy with how comfortable this whole thing felt really up until the mile reps. I should have been going slower especially during the 5k reps. But things felt comfortable and even though I would have liked the mile reps to be faster, I'm not concerned since it all felt manageable, quick and to the purpose of the workout.
Splits:
4x400 @ 5k pace. was aiming for 85-90 sec. As you can see, even though these were long, they were way too fast.
