Exercise Type: Run

Weather: indoors, cool

Comments:
Dropped daughter downtown and got a haircut on 8th St, SE. (Maybe that was a mistake?) Drove to EHS, arriving in the shadow of a massive building fire at 11am for a noon start of the Hoxton. Started running laps and loosened over the first half mile as I deliberately tried to get a decent pace going. 4 Laps in, I decided I should essentially accelerate every 800, which I did. As that was wrapping up, I decided I'd try 3x400 and hopped to be near 80 seconds for each. All went pretty much according to plan, despite a brief consideration of cutting it down to two 400s. Recoveries were 200 meters. Three tired laps slow afterwards brought me to 3.5 miles and while my body needed a bit more cooldown, the team was walking in the door and it was time for a shower. The workout was satisfyingly hard, especially the last 400 which I ran essentially all out and which I entered feeling pretty spent with the short recoveries I'd had leading in. Can't say as I'm fully back in shape yet, but it was fun to be able to do something like this. Nothing like time amnesia and a progressive style workout to feel accomplished. Was great fun to watch the team race well for the rest of the day.
