Winded

January 15, 2021 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: still mild for January, but plenty damp and grey... 40s

Comments:
Left home at 4 and intercepted Kale Boy along Reno near Huntington. Meandered over to Rock Creek at Northampton. Western Ridge to Soapstone Valley and up to Reno near Chesapeake. As we were saying our goodbyes, a voice called out. It was daughter Leah at the nadir of her out and back (Can that word apply to a line segment?). I was grateful because I needed distraction and company to make it home. I'd felt pretty heavy legged and fatigued throughout the run and every uphill had brought me to gasping. (My saturated mask wasn't helping.) As good as I'd felt on Wednesday's run, I now felt equally worn out and feeble. Letting Noah carry the conversation and forcing us to stop and chat with Carolyn "Grumpy" Rosenthal at the top of Soapstone helped some, but I was wiped out by the time we got up to Reno. The 10 minute mile with Leah felt like the only way I was getting back to the house in one piece. (first half mile was 4:21 pace, and we were maybe sub 8 for a few minutes here and there, but I don't think this was 7.5 miles.)
