Warming up in the chilly and damp

January 26, 2021 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 30s and wet with bits of slush lining the sidewalks

Comments:
Had very little energy or motivation to run, and walking outside finally around 6:10pm, I had little hope that I'd enjoy the miserable weather or anything about the run. I couldn't back out, though because I needed to retrieve my charger from school and I'd only run two miles yesterday. Of course, once I'd been moving for half a mile, I decided I felt good enough to overshoot school a bit. By the time I hit the mile mark along Reno (8:20) I felt good enough to want to go longer before getting to school, but worried about being locked out it I arrived too late. Settled on Reno to Vann Ness to 42nd to school and extended to reach 4 miles by going River to Western to home. Ended up longer than 4 and the half mile along 42nd was a comfortable 7:30 pace. By the time I ended, I was in a great groove, stripping hat and gloves and wishing I'd allowed more time for a longer run before dinner. Hopefully I'll feel this good tomorrow when I hope to accompany a group on a fartlek workout.
