To and at practice

July 29, 2021 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: muggy, very humid and near 90 although got a bit cooler during practice as storms threatened

Comments:
Ran to practice via Reno, Everett, Conn, and Soapstone Valley Trail. Stopped watch by accident, but it was likely 19 or 20 minutes and a solid effort, as I was running late. Caught my 5th leaf of the summer. Stretched with the team under the pavilion as we waited for distant T-Storms to move out of the area. Then led a group on a fartlek run up Western Ridge via the horse trail, around the Capitol Stones, and down the trail to Comanche. Doubled back and returned to the mill over the footbridge and along Beach Dr. There were 6 pick-ups, and the early uphills and humidity made this quite a bit harder than one would have expected. Pick ups ranged from 20 seconds to 80 seconds and there was some aggressive acceleration on the last few along Beach Dr. I felt fairly worn down today, likely from the tempo with Alden on Tuesday, but I'm definitely in decent enough shape that I can still be in control, despite feeling tired. Runs aren't miserable anymore, the way they were in June. 37 minutes for the fartlek including a cooldown loop at the field.
