Super Saturday- (BEST RUN EVER)

January 9, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Wow! Today was pretty much crazy. I did, in a lot of ways, what I never thought I could do, and it was indeed, probably my best numerical run ever.

So it started pretty interesting with some stories and stuff, but the crowd was small because the surf was good. But nevertheless (one of Lauren's favorite words- for all curious parties out there) there was a high quality (though low quantity group) consisting of namely Connor, Eckberg, Wilson (maybe this will catch on and replace Blakie-Poo... nah), Farmer, and myself.

Anyway, the run started out pretty standard as we headed south all the way into UCSD (except for Blake who went 8). Here the problems began; and oddly not in the legs, in the digestive system.

So from the forest, I tempo-ed to the bathrooms, and came out and we headed on again. I felt considerably better, and we headed onward, at a very respectable pace, (I think the turn-around was 7:03- and it obviously picked up on the way back). Well it was pretty standard, Connor and Eckberg taking a lead that extended to only about 10 meters (so it is nearly worthless to note) until the downhill out of the reserve. Well at the bottom of the hill again I had to use the bathroom, this was becoming a little frustrating. I tempo-ed back up in to the small pack before the parking lot where Connor and Eckberg stopped a very satisfactory 10 miles.

I though continued out with Farmer down the road for a mile, the coming back of which would give me an 11 mile run. .3 miles out though, I decided that the run would be unbearable without some help, I begged Farmer for a story. He didn't disappoint, and I finished a 12 mile, 6:50 paced amazing run gloriously.

Well sort of. Upon finishing I hurried in to the bathroom. What on earth is wrong!? I wondered as I emptied myself for the 3rd time. Wasn't sure then, not sure now... except wait! It's coming to me! I didn't eat breakfast before this run! Haha! I got it! I am the next Sherlock Holmes! Okay, perhaps not, but I am actually about 95% sure that was the source of my problem, so happy running here I come.

Today though a more important problem:
I didn't bring a post-race snack- can't forget those, especially on the weekends.
