Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Farmer had a crazy workout in store for us today that will be a treat for all of my subscribers out there.
The run started with everybody in one huge pack, and started with a House-Park to be followed with a Cathedral Loop. 3 miles in to this 6 mile run (well 6 miles for everyone else- my personal workout will get its attention later) fartleks began whereby approximately twice per mile, for 30 seconds, the pace would jump to 1600 meter race pace. The only difference in my personal workout was that once the others finished their 6 miles at the school, I would head out for 2 more miles that would also include 2 more fartleks. Fun!
The first 3 miles were predictably uneventful. After this though, the fun began! After only 2 fartlek surges the huge group had dropped to just Eckberg, Carpowitch, Blake, Nick, and I, (though Nick would only last through 2 more). We continued onward, keeping our surges at an amazingly fast pace that actually dropped me a little bit (my excuse to follow).
Anyway, because I was getting dropped and actually reached the school a fair distance (20 meters-ish) behind Eckberg, Matt, and Connor, Farmer asked me if I was ready to be finished, but I had not had enough pain yet, so we headed back down and up Lansdale and out a little bit of Del Mar Heights. We threw our surges up Lansdale, and back on Del Mar Heights.
Anyway, because of
1- the surges
2- the pace slowing dramatically in the last 3 miles
3- the slow opening house-park
the overall pace is essentially meaningless, and I must note that the overall quality of the run was VERY high. In fact this run would compete with last Saturday's run in quality.
My official excuse for not letting it be of even higher quality:
I today had to run in my Gel Cumulus 10s (my old shoes) because I left my other shoes in the trunk of my dad's Saab that went with him to work. I will not make this mistake again!
It was still a good day though, actually it was more than good- it was great!
Distance | Duration | Pace | Interval Type | Shoes |
