Memorable with Berenbom

December 9, 2022 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: upper 30s?

Comments:
Jon Berenbom emailed me Wednesday to alert me he'd be in Tysons Thursday night and Friday morning. I awoke at 5:45 and drove to meet him at 6:30am in the dark at Lock 10 just south of where the canal crosses the Beltway. It was just possible to judge the footing along the towpath as we headed north thanks to the moon being just one or two days past full and still high in the sky. The sunrise was terrific and we only saw one human (a biker) during the entire hour long run. There were some great views of the river valley just as the sun was illuminating the trees and this really was a memorable and beautiful run. Plus, we warmed up form 9:30 pace down to 7:45s or so. Turning at 30 min, we finished up at 57 without any deliberate effort to accelerate. Conversation was easy and I may have convinced Jon to register for the Cherry Blossom lottery (as I have). Had to jump in the car upon our return to get back in time for a shower and teaching first period. Crisp, winter weather, moonlight and sunrise, and good goat company all added up for a run I'll long remember.
