Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40 and wet ground
Comments:
Jon was back in DC for another work event. I drove down to the Logan Circle hotel where he was staying to meet him at 6:30am, passing on the Crawlers run for the second consecutive week to run with my old college teammate. We went south, mostly down 15th and looped Hains Point in the clockwise manner as the sun rose. Ground was wet from yesterday's rain, but the sky was partly clear and most of the run was delightfully peaceful. We also looped the west side of the Tidal Basin and extended along the Mall to 7th street before wending our way back to his apartment. His watch confirmed that we dipped down to a few 7:30 miles near the end. I'd started off pretty lethargic, but loosened up after 25 minutes. Then for the last 15 minutes both of my hips felt tired and tightened a bit as they had in the NXR 5km Thanksgiving weekend. That's a new one... Maybe time to stretch? Jon's watch said we averaged 7:59. I'll take that, although it makes last Saturday's 9 at 7:15 pace with Jen M feel more significant.
