Comments:
With no GDS team entered in the girls' SMR, I had 40 minutes or so to slip out of the field-house for a workout of my own. Ran through Prep's campus for 12 minutes at a pace that dropped to 8 flat, but never felt very fresh. Did about 10 meters of a few dynamics and then 4 strong striders on their one-year-old outdoor track. Then ran 6x300 aiming for 60 with 100 meter recoveries. Decided after one to give myself an extended recovery halfway to keep up the quality. Rough timing of recovery jogs indicates they ranged under 50 seconds mostly, with the extended one lasting about 1:50 and including a shoe tying. This felt like the hardest, most deliberate speed I've done in the past half dozen years. Satisfying.

Then a 9 minute cooldown back to the field house. When I realized I had a bit more time, I went back outside and jogged another 4 minutes until the GDS boys SMR was ready to start.
