As today is the first official day of GDS summer training, I'm going to log on Strava (as well as on my usual Running-log.com) for the rest of the summer. My father in law Si joined me on a bike and we wound through town to Hummock Pond Rd and down towards Cisco beach. Right knee which has been giving me strange trouble since just after Wednesday's fast run in NYC was very unhappy on a couple of uneven steps in the first mile or two, but once I was warm and on the bike path, it behaved much better. Paused to stretch at a not working water fountain near Bartletts' Farm. I turned back once I'd glimpsed the south shore, and Si biked on to the beach, not catching back up to me despite my hopes for company. The run back was tough... slight headwind, slight uphill, serious fatigue. Kept the pace solid and return trip was 31.30 vs the 32:35 of the outbound. both knees are really stiff, maybe as I'm adjusting to the mileage build and new drop of my new shoes. Good to have a solid 8 mile run, solidly sub 8 pace. Mapping shows this was likely at least 8.2.
