West Park Race

Well i did not meet the goal i had set for myself before the race but i did beat my pr. i had prepared so much more for this race then i usually do cause i knew it would be a fast course so i wanted to beat 18 minutes. i ran 18:22. it is still a good improvement but i was a little disapointed be cause i had spent the last few days thinking of a good race strategy and i could even visualise the race step by step. now for the actual race. i knew in the beginning that if i ran with nate he would push me and in turn i would push him as he tried to outrun me so we would push each other hard. i am so glad that nate is there if it weren't for him i don't know if i would have improved so much. it is so much easier to run hard if you have someone there with you so nate i say thank you. the first mile was a good strong one and i actually beat my mile time. i was able to keep up this pace running a 5:50-5:52 mile pace. the second mile my dad was there and he kept yelling at me to catch up to nate who had pulled away a little bit. i was tired and didn't think i could but caught up to him and remembered that at the retreat coach said that drafting helped. so i tucked in pretty close to him and even hit his foot a couple of times cause i got to close. the third mile i tried to pick it up so i could reach my goal but didnt have that much energy to use. the last little bit i really tried to pick it up and pass these two caldwell guys who were right in front of me and nate but they must have been saving energy cause right as i was about to pick it up they took off and beat me and i don't know wether or not nate beat them. the last like 800 my dad was yelling at me again and i sprinted as fast as i could to the finish. even though i didn't reach my goal i still beat my pr by 32 seconds. i'm disapointed that the season is nearing its end but at least we still have districts and state. WE WILL GO TO STATE! If we run smart and hard and everyone is prepared we can easily beat caldwell and the other teams we need to to go to state. i also still have a good goal for me to beat at districts.well i'm tired and hungry so i'm gonna go.
