man.
i hurt right now but it was way worth it. so i set a goal to go faster than 18 minutes and i ran 18 minutes and 78 hundredths of a second. so lets see the first mile i wanted to run at a 5:40 pace and i think i was right around there but i couldn't tell cause they were too stupid to put mile markers out on the course. i just assumed that each lap was about a mile. so anyways the first mile i ran with nate or just infront of him and we stuck with hyrum pushing a little harder than i am used to. the second mile i felt pretty good and we kept up the pace. every time we passed someone who would cheer for us i always got a little boost of energy which was nice. right at the beginning of the third mile at that first tree you go around at the start i started to get a side ache but i thought it would go away so i didn't bother slowing down. then it slowly started to get worse and after about a minute it really hurt. i tried to get rid of it but it would'nt go away slow i slowed down a bit which i now regret. nate slowly pulled away and it really pissed me off so i tried to pick it back up and block out the pain. it sort of worked so i was able to catch back up to nate. as we went around the final turn i was preparing for my final kick but didn't want to go very fast to make my side ache worse. my dad was standing about thirty yards from the concrete and he could tell i was hurting but he told me to just run and not worry about the pain because it was the last race and my last chance to pick off people. that really stuck in my head so as i hit the concrete (which had made my spikes give me sore spots on the bottom of my feet earlier in the race)i really started to sprint i just blocked out the pain in my feet my calves and my side and just stared into the back of the person infront of me i ran faster and faster and about fifty yards out i felt like i was sprinting harder then i have ever done in a race. when i crossed the line i stopped the time on my watch and looked at it. i was one second off my goal. i knew i ran a good race but i was disappointed with myself for slowing down on the backstretch when i should have started to pick it up after i gave the people my little ticket thing i started to walk away but sort of sat down/fell over. i'm sad that the season is over i had a lot of fun and improved a lot i've also learned alot about how much i can push my self to reach my goals. i am going to keep training over the winter and in the spring. i already have a goal for next year it is to beat 17 minutes and i am going to train hard so i can acheive it. i want to say thanks to the coaches they are awesome and the best coaches i've ever had for any sport. i can't wait to run cross country next year and i'm gonna make all my friends come run it too.

i just wanted to add something for the coaches:

the oldschool jerseys were cool but the shorts were a no go. it didn't even feel like i was wearing shorts cause they were so short. so yeah just thought i'd say that
