What a day this was. Got up at 7 to prepare for the 7:30 departure to New York. Our car was Coach Deb, Sam, Coach Monetti, Hannah, and Lexi. Halfway there I asked Deb to stop cuz I had to piss like a fucking racehorse. Me and Lexi went into the nicest fitness center I have ever seen to use the bathroom. When we finally got to New York, there was ridiculous traffic on the george Washington bridge. We waited so long that our warm up got messed up. Lexi and Hannah were on at 11, so they had to get out of the van before we even got there and run their warmup. Sam and I took their bags in and then had to warm up afterwards. The arena was sick, absolutely amazing. History was everywhere. The atmosphere just felt great. We warmed up a couple laps around the track before going outside for the remainder. When we got back the girls were already lined up to race. Hannah was doing great until she got knocked down and spiked. She disappeared from the race and we weren't sure where she had gone. Turns out she was gushing blood from her leg. Lexi hit what she wanted to run, a respectable 10:23. Our race went out relatively slow, in a 71. The pace dropped dramatically from there, as TJ Cowing of UMBC took the lead. He died though and I anded up beating him. DOUCHEEEEE. through 2k we were all together and then the field started to spread out. The Albany duo took the lead and did not relinquish it. the winner of the heat was 8:31. I pr'ed in 8:41.88. Pretty good considering the hectic warmup and the fact that I was feeling sick. SAm did not have such a great day. He felt awful before the race, very sick. He finished in 9:17 which is still a great time, but he got lapped by everyone. Poor Sam. I cooled down six miles through the city after that, four of them with Lexi. Overall great day.
